This is from the same village as “window to the world”. It’s taken from a small old tower of the city wall. As you can see it was built out of the black lava stone.

This observatory is very famous because there is hardly no light pollution and a good astronomical seeing. In the back you can see Teide peak.

This is an image I shoot some time ago at the remains of the castle Reinsberg. I like the growing tree on the ancient rock. Nature always find its way …

A beautyful night view of the main tower of the Rothschild castle in Waidhofen. The tower is iluminated by a bunch of flood lights and projectors. It should look as it is burning.

There are three shots which I took at the regional exhibition 2007 of Lower-Austria in Waidhofen/Ybbs (link). The Images are showing the castle Rothschild in the center of Waidhofen.
You can also see some modern parts on top of the castle. These glas cube on top of the “Bergfried” was designed by the star architect Hans Hollein.
A little history lesson:
The castle was built in the first half of the 13th century from the earls of Peilstein. In the second half of the 13th century the castle was in possession of the bishops of Freising. 1875 the castle went in possession of the family Rothschild. in 1943 the castle was given to the town.
